The is elegantly entwined with its historical past and represents the artistic take of the architects from with refined approach and dynamic visual presence. Turning the “Old Mill” into a 4 Star hotel the designers combined the original qualities and layout of the cultural monument with new materials – experimenting with shapes, colors and textures and achieving in this way the creation of a space with unique character and unforgettable features. The enchanted entwinement of past and future starts form the facade of the building – behind a water body that refreshes and protects, among a ruin-like columns the main public areas are located in the body of the historical architectural complex and the 236 guest rooms are in the newly build wing that preserves the time – past expression of the hotel.
The interior of the hotel combines futuristic structures and shapes with old brick structures, exposed concrete with urban emanation and the warmth of wood and stone cladding, bespoke and modern furniture and lighting solutions with cozy looking textiles and arched windows. Preserving the spirit of the Old Mill in the brick structures, the overall reminiscence of its industrial past (the backdrop of the reception corner made from reclaimed old machinery or the exposed concrete structures) the designers of the space succeed in giving it a modern idea and unique presence. The undulated walls and structures in the main public areas bring artistic softness to the canvas and dynamic visual expression. The material choices are in wide range – from natural; oak, cooper, wood and stone to the modern industrial look of aluminum and concrete. This variety translate into the different atmosphere that can be found throughout the hotel – more dynamic and modernistic in the public areas, juxtaposed to the soft cozy textures and comfort atmosphere of the guest rooms. The fusion of historic landmark and modern dynamic creates an atmosphere of fashionable design and noteworthy presence. Photographs: Tobias Hein
