Exciting entwinement of arched, historic brick structures and light contemporary design. This small urban apartment only 70 square meters, designed by the is a beautiful representation not only of the trend of creating exquisite interior dеcor arrangements in small urban dwellings but it is also an exciting example of creatively reimagining old historical structures in new modern fashion.
The original house is dating back to the time of Catherine II, and the fantastic arched brick wall and ceiling structures are preserved to their full glory, only painted in white creating in this way pure and luminous ambiance. The designers admit that the renovation of the apartment took them a half and year but stripping everything to its base and adding new claddings, structures, and even window frames is time-consuming process.
This bachelor‘s apartments design is a stylish and almost minimalist contemporary celebration of its rich historical base. The beauty of old spirit and modern style and structures is especially visible in the kitchen zone: here the arched brick ceiling hosts in its soft embrace the sharp lines of the shining kitchen appliance and structures and their trendy black backdrop. This intriguing kitchen structure hosts on its facade a projection wall – something frequently created by the modern designers for young owners. The entertainment wall faces the elegant and minimally furnished living space (with a cute and very inspiring looking working corner in front of the window).
In the open layout of the main living premises, the dining area offers an insertion of brick-red chairs with a slightly retro design that introduces a color accent to the otherwise monochrome color palette, which is dominated by the juxtaposition of black and white with the softening middle tonalities of gray and caramel wood. Exposed wiring, suspended Edison bulbs and metal design details add to the modernistic expression of the apartment’s design.
Beautiful contrast, with characteristic for the whole apartment minimalist expression, is achieved at the foyer – the arched whitewash brick ceiling meets the sharp crones of the walls painted in trendy black and then the rectangularly shaped white patch hosting the doors of the other premises- very graphic design combination.
A juxtaposition of floor materials throughout the apartment is also used in modern contrast to signify different premises- dark, granite-like tiling in bathrooms and kitchen zone makes borderless transfusion into the rich American walnut parquet that signifies the warmer zones like bedroom or living room premises.
Using minimalistic furnishing and design approach the designers included some individual modern furniture pieces, expressive lamps design, with modernistic twists, and clear lined structures to achieve very stylish urban design ambiance, laid into the beautiful history shell of the house original construct.
